Weigh-in Wednesday




Well, Weigh-in Wednesday comes a day late....because I forgot that yesterday was Wednesday.  And I haven't posted my weigh-ins the last couple weeks because, well, life has just been busy.  But alas......since the last time I posted, I am down again by -1.0 lb.

This brings my total weight-loss to....... -10.2 lbs.!!!!!!!

I'm still somewhat amazed at myself for being able to do this.  I like that the weight is coming off slowly (except that not many people seem to notice I've lost any).  But I think it's better to lose weight slowly because I will have a greater chance at keeping it off.  I'm making some "life-style changes", not "dieting".  I've always heard people say that and thought I could never do it....but I am doing it!

Weigh-in Wednesday

Wowsers!

This week I am down  -2.6 lbs!!!

I fully believe that some of this week's loss was actually some of last week's loss.  What I mean is that I think I had actually lost more than .4 last week, but because I weighed at a different time of the day than I usually do (and with a full belly), it didn't show in last week's weigh-in.  So it makes this week's seem crazy good!

I'm really not denying myself any food in particular (except sweets), just eating smaller portions and being aware of just how much I consume and choosing "good" food over "bad" food more than the other way around.

So, my total weight loss is now.....

Drum Roll please......

-9.2 lbs!!!!!!!

I'm actually kind of amazed at myself over this.  I like to eat.  And I like to eat good, not-healthy-for-you-at-all foods.  So, this is a major accomplishment for me!

Weigh-in Wednesday

Forgot to weigh in yesterday, but remembered this morning.......... -.4 lbs!
Total weight-loss to date: -6.6 lbs.

I've been making better choices when I eat, eating less and working out more.  With this warm weather I've been itching to get outside and enjoy it!  It's easy to get moving around when the day is beautiful and the sun is shining.  Now, if I could only figure out a way to move my desk at work outside....

Weigh-in Wednesday

So in the midst of getting things unpacked from the big move, I failed to actually weigh-in last Wednesday.

So, I weighed in this week and to my surprise and delight, I am.......-2.2 lbs. !!!!!!!  This brings my total weight-loss to..-6.2 lbs !!!

Here's some of what's worked for me:

-I'm still continuing to not eat sweets (except the one weekend I went to visit my college roomie who is a Pastry Chef - how could I not eat sweets visiting her??).

-I am also still not drinking carbonated beverages, and because I am doing 40 Days of Water, I have had nothing but water for the last 30 days or so.

-I have started adding in some small workouts here and there.  My house is a total disaster of moving boxes and there's a ton of stuff to do, but I bought some workout DVD's and I live near a park, so I try to squeeze in something every day or two.  Burning a few calories is better than not burning any!

This week I am back down just a tad at   - .4 lbs.  I was telling my mom the other day that I feel like I am at a Peninsula and can't get past it.  haha!  She said - you mean Plateau?  Yes, that is what I meant!  Peninsula or Plateau - I just need to kick things into high gear and get past it.

Weigh-in Wednesday

Well I'm sure those that read my blog on a regular basis have noticed a marked absence of posts lately.  Life has been extremely busy and then for the last 4-5 days, I've been fighting off a head cold.  All that to say, I did weigh-in last week and yesterday, I was just either too busy or too sick to post.

So without further adue, last week I was  - .8 lbs.  And this week I was  +.8 lbs.

So bascially, in the last two weeks, I have come out even.  Which makes my overall total not as low as it was, but still down as a whole at  -3.6 lbs.

I move into my new house in about a week and it's within walking distance to one of my favorite parks, so mark my word - the scale WILL start to go back in the negative direction!!

Weigh-in Wednesday

I weighed-in yesterday, but work was so busy I didn't get to post....so weigh-in Wednesday is being posted today, a Thursday.

Well, all the weeks of not working out have caught back up to me.  I am unhappy to report that I am in the positive this week.  I am +1.2 for this week.  Boo.  I am still down overall though, so it's not too horrible.

Okay, so I need to get myself back in the gym.

Weigh-in Wednesday

After working OT every day last week, plus all the snow (both of which meant I didn't go to the gym at all again!)....I'm happy, but surprised, to report that I am  -0.8 lbs for this week!  This makes my grand total   -4.8 lbs!!!

I don't have any specific tips this week, except just be consistent with making small changes, eating smaller portions and saying no when you really don't need to eat something!  Consistency is the key!  Don't give up!

Weigh-in Wednesday

Today's weigh-in was actually the same as last week.  So, I'm neither plus or minus for the week, but overall I am still at -4.0 lbs.  It's nice to maintain and not move back up on the scale, but I've got to kick it into high gear and get motivated to go to the gym to keep seeing results!

I admit I struggle with working out during the winter.  I hate the thought of being cold walking into the gym and having to get myself moving....and then I hate the thought of coming back out into the cold covered in sweat and feeling that instant chill.  I am very much looking forward to warmer weather so I can get back outside to get some exercise.

I'm trying to find ways to motivate myself to work out right now, but I am able to easily talk myself out of it every day!  You would think with "swimsuit weather" approaching, that it would be a motivator, but since I was on a bathing suit maybe one time last year, it's really not motivating me.  There's always the thought of fitting back into clothes that I haven't worn for a while and the feeling of disgust with myself that I go through most every morning when trying to find something to wear...but nope, these aren't motivating me towards the gym either.

Weigh-in Wednesday

Well, I can't believe it.  I thought surely after having such a great weigh-in last week, that this week I would be on the plus side (also because I never did make it to the gym this week!).  However, I am happy to report that today's number is  -.2 lbs!!!  Which makes my grand total  -4.0 lbs!!!  At least for now, the little changes I've made are making a difference.....but I know before too long I will have to make exercise a prority if I want to keep seeing the scale numbers go down.

My advice this week is to:
Just Say "No, thank you."

Just because someone offers you a treat or dessert doesn't mean you have to say yes and eat it!

Weigh-in Wednesday

Holy Cow!  I am completely shocked!  I don't expect results like these every week, but there's nothing like a little instant gratification to get you jump-started.......drum roll please......my first week's weigh-in is:   -3.8 lbs.!!  (and that's without a trip to the gym once this week!)

I have made some small changes lately that have apparently paid off in a big way (this week at least!).

Here's what I've been doing this week:

I have a BIG sweet tooth - so I have not eaten any sweets.  I knew this was something I would have to completely cut out for a while - if sweets aren't a problem for you, then you may not have to get so drastic, but I knew for me it had to be all or nothing (for a while). 

I also gave up carbonated beverages.  I got into the habit of drinking at least one coke a day (sometimes more if I went to a restaurant).  So instead, I'm opting for water or lemonade (most places serve lemonade alongside their carbonated beverages and it's usually sugar-free and very good!).  I have definitely noticed a difference in how I feel since not drinking carbonated stuff - it's amazing how much less bloated you are when you don't guzzle down all those bubbles!  If I've needed a caffeine boost here or there, I went for the coffee instead (and just regular ole coffee - not sugary Starbucks!)

Going along with my first Frugal Friday post, I have really cut back on the amount of meals I eat out during the work week and have stayed in the office for lunch with a can of soup instead!  And you know what?  After lunch I'm full either way!  (And isn't that the point of eating lunch?)

And last but not least I practiced portion control.  If I went out to eat, then I made sure to make the meal stretch out into two meals by asking for a take-home box (because restaurant portions are HUGE!).....or if it wasn't enough to make another meal out of, I simply left the extra on my plate and pushed the plate away.  (Just because I paid for the food doesn't mean I had to eat it all).  I really didn't deny myself much of what I was craving (except the sweets), but I just didn't indulge myself on anything.  I ate a reasonable-sized portion and then stopped - even if I felt like eating more, I just stopped.  My head knew I had eaten enough to sustain myself until the next meal, even if my stomach didn't know it yet.

Well, there are my tips for the week.  If I was a betting girl, I'd say that I'll be back up next week (just because the results were so extreme this week, but maybe not - I'm gonna keep doing the above mentioned tips and maybe actually hit the gym this week too!  So we shall see what next week will bring....

Weigh-in Wednesday

Another goal, besides Frugal Friday, that I have for 2010 is to lose some weight, tone up and become more healthy. So, I've created "Weigh-in Wednesday" on my blog. Now like any sane woman, there's no way I'm going to tell you my actual weight!! But I will be posting a plus or minus amount (such as -1lb)for each week so I can track my results. Hopefully posting on this blog will keep me accountable and aware of my goal, since I know that others (even if it's just a few people) will be reading it. At least it adds some pressure anyway!!
I hope to share not only my progress, but also:
-My struggles with exercising consistently
-The fact that I love food (especially desserts!!) and finding healthy recipes to satisfy this love
-Tips that I find to help me stay motivated
-And anything else about getting in shape and eating better
So since today is the first post of Weigh-in Wednesday, I will be starting at Zero for my weigh-in! Tune in next week to see if it's a + or - number!
