September = Conglomeration

September was a busy month!  We had all sorts of things going on.
 Here's a recap:

September 7-9:
Brandon stained our freshly power-washed deck!

It took him three full days, 5 gallons of stain, 1 brush and lots of will power!

He even worked into the night to finish the job, complete with head lamp (really I think he just likes any excuse to wear his head lamp).  :)

But all his hard work paid off and it turned out beautifully!

September 13-14:

Our Brother-in-law, Billy, turned 55!  So we headed to Cville for the celebration.  Kim (Brandon's sis) had made lots of fun signs for the "Highway" themed party including this "Reserved Parking" sign that hung above Billy's chair.

Happy Birthday Billy!

September 15:
My grandparents came for brunch and to see our new house for the first time.

A Pinterest idea I found - fruit-and-donut-hole-kabobs for dessert after brunch!

September 21-22:
So I mentioned back in my July post, that I had found a piece of furniture that we were going to remake into a TV dresser (another Pinterest idea).

Here's the before picture:

We worked over this weekend (and some more times after this weekend) to recreate it.  First, sanding  down the top that was all scratched up:

Then, taking out the top drawers and drawer rails....

and cutting wood to fill in the recesses that were beneath the drawers after taking them out.  We also added quarter round to trim out the front better.

Then we stained everything to match the existing color and nailed it all together.

And voila!!  Our new TV dresser for our bedroom!
I love that the DVD player is tucked underneath the TV where one of the drawers used to be.....looks a lot cleaner that way.

September 29:
We took to a local bike path and rode about 14 miles!

That evening, we went to our church to help pack meals for people in Haiti (something our church does every year)

My friend, Ashley, and I in our lovely hair nets

Ashley's husband, Brian (who is also Brandon's co-worker) & Brandon

Although we didn't get to attend the party, Little Boo - our niece (2nd from left), turned 6!!  Her siblings were singing to her in the picture.  Aren't they all so cute!?!  We did get to FaceTime with Boo that night, which is always a treat.
